Sophie and puppy

This was Sophie (2003-2018) and one of her puppies. Sophie was our first of five Dandie Dinmont Terriers after our first dog, Brandy, a Golden Retriever, passed away. If you click on the image above, it will take you back to 2006 when Sophie’s puppies were born.

Ariella "Cupcake"

Ariella is our fourth Dandie, born in 2017 and will be celebrating her 6th birthday in March. She is a very friendly little dog and got to bond very closely with Sophie and Mackenzie (before we lost them) when we first brought her home. When taking her on walks, she will go out of her way to meet and greet other people and their dogs.

Janice & Sophie's puppy

Sophie and Mackenzie had three puppies together, Angus (Jody), Kiki (Jenny), and Sarah. At twelve weeks old, Angus went to a home in Oshawa Ontario, Kiki went to a home in Holland (Europe) and Sarah stayed with us here in Toronto Ontario. Click on the picture to see more of Sophies's puppies (~ middle of page).

Sophie Sarah Mackenzie

This was our Dandie Dinmont

Mackenzie (2002-2018)

In 2005, his first year in the UK, Mac won the Our Dogs/Eukaneuba Top Sire Competition for progeny under 12 months of age. He was Top Dandie Sire, Top Terrier Sire and # 6 All Breeds (amazing when you consider how few Dandies are born compared to, say, Labrador Retrievers).

In 2006 almost every show in Britain saw a Mackenzie son or daughter win the Challenge Certificates (required for an English championship). His offspring dominated the show ring.  He sired the top Dandie male and female and the reserve top Dandie male, although he was back in Canada by then.

He was Top Dandie Sire again in 2007 and 2008, and sired all 2008 and 2009 Crufts CC and RCC winners.  He produced 6 English Champions including the Dandie who holds the record for Challenge Certificates, and his grandchildren included the winner of Best in Show at National Terrier (the first Dandie in history to do so).  He also sired a Swedish champion and his son Am and Can Ch Gateway Sparks of Glahms, when in England sired Ch Cloverwood Royal George who was 4th in the terrier group, at the world renowned Crufts dog show.

Not only did his offspring continued to win significantly but his grandchildren and great grandchildren continued his legacy, and do so to this day.
